expressionism on the autobahn
Maybe I'm a dork but I don't have much going on in my truck as far as personal expression goes. Nothing hangs from my rearview window, but I see others seem to like having stuff there. Mardi gras beads, Hawaiian leis, blue dolphins, and dream catchers are common sights on my daily commute.
Even more puzzling are the intricate menageries people set up in their rear windows. These people have all these carefully arranged stuffed animals or action figures all positioned just so. It looks like a freaking puppet show in their car. Not only do I fail to see the reason for this I don't understand how it's possible. I set one thing on the dash and the first corner I turn sends it racing down to the end and out the window if I'm not careful. Are they using superglue? double sided tape? staples?
I'm sure I'm just bitter cause in high school I had a pair of handcuffs hanging from my rear view mirror on the 78 Cougar, and they were promptly stolen. Little did I know the thief was doing me a favor by reducing my dork factor at least temporarily. Maybe they were stolen by the taste police.
